Big thanks go out to Bruce and DemVal for this amazing tool and work.

Pedro A.

Some will notice that we now have a Departments list and that our mailer can provide TLS and SSL through SMTP.

As a matter of fact we do value the Departments in an entirely new way.
Let me explain:

  1. Departments are now a permission object that stands between the Companies and the rest of the other objects, like Projects, Tasks and so on. So you can now limit the users to see projects from a Department of a Company. And in web2Project this can be done at Role level so you don’t need to do it in a User by User basis.
  2. The Departments now have a type field which you can control via the Lookup Values just like you did with the Companies. By default we have created 3 types: Profit, Cost and Not Defined. Which suit the normal business environments out there.
  3. We added an email field to the Departments so that we make it consistent with the Companies records.

I could go on all day with all the features you can find in web2Project not available on other products, but I leave it up to you to try and test it and have fun at it.

We are getting ready to launch to stay tuned and let us know what you think on the support forums, we appreciate the feedback.

Thank you,

Pedro A.

As of today we are on SVN Release Candidate state version 0.99

Meaning you can grab all that is needed from our SVN server and setup your own web2Project Project Management System.

All you need to do is to:
1) Grab the SVN code and place it in your site
2) Create a database for web2Project and correctly setup the includes/config.php file
3) Import the /install/web2project.sql script into the database
4) Point your browser to your web2Project setup and login with admin/passwd
5) Last but not least have fun and start working in a faster and more reliable way.

We know that 1) through 4) are a bit of a pain, and that’s why we are building a nice and easy installer for all the non-tech people out there wanting to get their hands on web2Project.
Do not despair because it will be included on the final release… So stay tuned…

For those of you that can handle those steps we kindly ask for your feedback on our forums, we promise we don’t bite.

By the way the database schema will no longer be changed until we have a final release so all the work that you put on the SVN version will not suffer from any modifications when we have a final release, so you can safely upgrade the scripts from our SVN server and you will always get your data protected and your system working better.

There are some more goodies coming up on our Documentation site but we will leave that for the right time.

Thank you very much and we hope you like it as much as we do,

Pedro A.

We invite you all to try our most recent product online.
The demo site is here:
web2Project Demo

Username: admin
Password: test

Please provide us with your feedback on the forums on our BETA forum:
web2Project Forums

As of today we are on Public Testing BETA status, meaning the product is stable enough to be used on production environments.

Please do not use the Demo site to store sensitive information because all data will be erased in a very near future.

We left on the Demo site part of our project plan for web2Project version 1 so that you can see it in action and get a glimpse of what has been done in these past months on web2Project.

We hope you like it.

Thank you very much,

Pedro A.

First news or evidence of physical existence of web2Project.
Yes it exists and so this is the first public step towards effective release of the product.

More good news will follow.

Cheers,

Pedro A.
